Our Work With Unicef

Southern Star Research makes contributions throughout the year that are directed towards causes that improve the health and quality of life of others, both locally and abroad.

Examples of putting this philosophy into action include;

Polio Vaccinations
Polio is a highly contagious viral infection, and prevention via vaccination is the best solution. Polio causes children serious paralysis, and the aftermath of Polio will last a lifetime. Over the years Southern Star Research has made donations through Unicef to provide polio vaccinations for over 10,000 children in Africa.

Measles Vaccinations
Measles is the one of the biggest single killers among the vaccine-preventable diseases, causing an estimated 530,000 deaths in 2003, with 395,000 of these in children under five: around 4 per cent of under-five deaths globally. Unicef’s Measles Initiative has supported supplementary activities in priority countries in sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere.  Southern Star Research has provided funds through Unicef to protect more than 12,000 children from the deadly measles virus.
